Propoganda in a bottle

We’ve been wanting to blog about beer commercials but we’ve been too busy, stressed, lazy, full, indecisive to do so.

Here’s our first, certianly not our fav and never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined it would be a beer commercial from North Korea.

Taedong River Beer is the pride of Pyongyang says the ad.

The ad says that beer relieves stress and has health and longevity benefits. It also talks about the beer’s quality and nutritional value, being brewed from  rice with proteins and vitamins. Wait a minute, aren’t they experiencing a famine?

But it’s no secret that the North Korean leader enjoys Cezch beer and cognacs.

Programming in the communist country is state-controlled and doesn’t normally have food advertisements on television let alone beer.
